Effect of electric pulses on the deformation behavior of pre-strain Ti6Al4 V sheets
Electric pluses treatment(EPT)has shown promising effects in exploring the forming potential of hard-to-deform materials.This paper investigates the influence of EPT on the deformation behavior of the Ti6A14V(TC4)sheets with the 7%tensile pre-strain before loading to ultimate strength.The uniaxial tensile tests are conducted with the strain rate of 10-3s-1 and electric pluses are applied three times with the density ranging from 33.3A/mm2 to 55.5A/mm2.The experimental results show that recovery of elongation of pre-strain samples increases at first and then decreases with the rising of current density and reaches the maximum of 99.1%with the current density of 44.4A/mm2.The improvement of ductility can also be demonstrated by the increasing of hardening exponent after EPT and the transformation of fracture surface from hybrid ductile fracture of dimple and tear ridge to ductile fracture of dimple.
