Evaluation of Surface Roughness in Machining SiCp/Al Composites
During machining MMCs,cracking and debonding of hard reinforcements are typical defects that greatly affect the characterization parameters of surface topography.However,the few evaluation methods have been developed for extracting information of 3D surface topography.In this paper,a roughness extraction method is established to conduct an evaluation of surface roughness in machining MMCs.To separate the surface defects from surface roughness of metal matrix composite,a filtering method based on DT-CWT is carried out.Compared with the least-square method and gauss filter,the filtering method based on DT-CWT has higher stabi1ity and can effectively distinguish the information between surface roughness and surface defect.By using the roughness extraction method based on DT-CWT,it is found that the surface roughness value of 2024Al matrix composite is lower than that of 6063Al matrix composite.
