Study on the Effect of Coke Dry Quenching Bell Charging Structure on Coke Distribution

  Coke dry quenching(CDQ for short)is a process that cooling down hot coke from 1000℃ to about 150℃.This process is very important to coke.Some coke indexes are related to CDQ process.And because coke has three important functions in blast furnace.So some blast furnace indexes are related to CDQ process too.The three functions are be the frame of blast furnace,and as fuel to burning,and reducing agent for iron ore to product metal iron.So good equipment and operation of CDQ is necessary to iron and steel enterprise.The structure of top bell charging system has directly influence on the distribution of hot coke.And the cooling process and temperature of output coke and coke indexes may also be affected by bell charging system structure.One top bell charging system of CDQ which annual output is 260 million tons was studied in this paper.Some discrete element simulations were taken by using EDEM,one of the commercial software for discrete element simulation.Many modify designs which focus on the modifications of top bell charging system height and the plate angle on charging system were made and simulated.One of them was choose after compared with all designs results.The chosen design improve the distribution of coke significantly.The top bell charging system was changed according to the chosen design.As simulations results and equipment operation effects show that(1)the original bell charging structure had negative effect on uniform coke distribution and the largest D-value is 148.721kg between two areas on the same plane ;(2)modify design improve the uniform coke distribution,largest D-value is 14.407 kg on the same positions;(3)the average output coke temperature 2016 decrease 12℃ compare with 2015 with the application of some other technologies.
