Flow Field Analysis of Al-Si Melts under 2.7kHz Electromagnetic Induction Heating Condition

  Based on the experiments of refining with Si-Al melt.The model of the effects of temperature distribution,Al-Si melt flow,magnetic field distribution under the 3kHz frequency induction during the refining process had been built.We simulate the temperature distribution,temperature in the melt is average during the refining process.Melt flow had been also created because forced convection of Lorentz Force caused by electromagnetic induction and natural convection caused by density difference,those effects of Flow Field will have a comprehensive action on heat transfer and temperature field.Besides,electromagnetic field distribution has great influence on the refining process of aluminum-silicon melt.The results show that the velocity fields generated by 3kHz induction furnace can reach 0.9×10-2m/s.The effect of forced convection on the velocity field at 3kHz frequency is much greater than that on natural convection.Because the large speed can make melt flow fully,the temperature between the highest and lowest is only 8K,that means,3kHz is a very useful frequency to heat and stir the melt.Our experiments also verify our conclusion.
