Analysis of Inclusion Behavior with Calcium Treatment Conditions Using Kinetic Model of Ladle Furnace
Calcium treatment is an important method to manage inclusions composition for good castability.Some of specialty steel grade have strict standard of inclusion inspection.It is very difficult to satisfy the standard of inspection if there is excess calcium in steel melt.On the other hand,it is easy to block SEN or slide gate if there is low calcium content.So optimization of calcium treatment is very important.But optimal condition of Ca injection is difficult to know because of complex reactions occur during steelmaking process.Besides,there are several ways to input Ca in steel melt.So we want to know the effect of input methods and other conditions.We sampled several heats of different conditions and analyzed inclusions with ASPEX.We compared the inclusion compositions and number of density at each conditions and steelmaking processes.And we analyzed inclusion behavior using kinetic model of Ladle Furnace(LF simulator of FactSage consortium).LF simulator can calculate the change of equilibrium of each processes and conditions with time.The results show us which inclusions could be our goal to modify during calcium treatment.
