ABAQUS-based Study on the Influence Factors of Bending Radius in Simulation of High Strength Steel Bending

Dual-phase steel is a new practical and advanced high-strength steel.Based on its good manufacturability and good application prospect,dual-phase steel has become an important component of automotive materials, and bending property is one of the most important criteria for evaluating its manufacturability. To study minimum bending radius for safe bending at different thicknesses, the bending process of DP980 high strength steel was simulated by ABAQUS and the simulation results were verified by three-point experiment. The results indicate that the manufacturability of DP980 high strength steel become worse as the bending radius decreases. For DP980 with a thickness of 1.75 mm,cracks generated at the corners when the bending radius was 1.25 mm,and when the bending radius increased to 4 mm,no cracks generated, which illustrates that the minimum bending radius is between 1.25 mm and 4 mm.
