Preliminary research on the influence of deposited corrosion products on cladding corrosion performance

  Corrosion products in primary coolant circuit deposited on fuel rod cladding surface can cause cladding corrosion anomaly.Considerable deposited corrosion products on cladding will increase local cladding temperature and speed up corrosion rate which have destructive effect on cladding corrosion performance.In order to evaluate the influence of crud layer(formed by deposited corrosion products)on cladding performance,this paper focuses on the research of crud deposition mechanism and corrosion product deposition modeling.Some investigations on the relationship between crud thickness and crud deposition conditions have been made to evaluate cladding corrosion performance.The results indicate that the maximum core crud thickness will not exceed 50μm during target cycle,and could ensure the cladding integrality.
