The Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation and the Conductor Dynamics for Ice-Shedding
The absolute nodal coordinate formulation(ANCF)is used for numerically modeling the ice-shedding from transmission-line conductors.Based on continuum mechanics,the ANCF method is developed for multi-body dynamic analyses.For an arbitrary transmission-line geometry,besides the conductors dynamic behavior in the time domain,a static consideration can also be evaluated.The numerical results show that the method can be adopted and used for transmission-line design.As with all numerical methods based on finite elements an increasing number of details means an increase in the computational costs.The method is mathematically consistent and open to the user in the sense that the user can have full insight and control over the method.
