Review of Galloping of Iced Transmission Line:Dynamic Models and Experiments
Based on extensive literature study, this paper reviews dynamic models and experimental researches relating to galloping of iced transmission line. The classical mechanisms in galloping researches, such as vertical galloping mechanism by Den Hartog, torsional galloping mechanism by O.Nigol, and inertially coupled galloping mechanism by Yu.P,are presented. On the basis of these mechanisms, many nonlinear dynamic models were established to analyze the dynamic behaviors. In present paper, the evolution of dynamic models of galloping is introduced, and the analytic solutions, such as the periodic and quasi-periodic solutions under non-resonance,resonance and parametrical resonance conditions, are summarized.Besides, the complicated nonlinear dynamic behaviors, such as bifurcation, chaos, hysteresis phenomenon and multi-modal galloping, are summed up.Furthermore, the experiment on galloping, especially the wind tunnel test,is reviewed. Two main models in wind tunnel test, including segment model and global continuous model are summarized. Finally, the problems need to be solved are proposed, including the establishment of more complicated models, the effect of towers on galloping, and more accurate simulation of wind tunnel test, and future works are suggested.
