Preparation of Super Hydrophobic Surface with Abandoned Silicone by Arc Exposure

  Because of their excellent dielectric properties,hydrophobicity and anti-pollution properties when used in electrical equipment,silicone materials are considered to be one of the best choice in the preparation of super hydrophobic surfaces.In this paper,the preparation of super-hydrophobic coating by arc treatment of discarded silicone is studied,and the microstructural development,chemical composition,hydrophobicity and the microscopic process of contaminant elimination of the surface are presented.Experimental results show that the surface prepared by arc exposure have excellent hydrophobic,durability and self-cleaning property,indicating the feasibility of preparing super hydrophobic surface with abandoned silicone by arc exposure,and revealing that high temperature of the arc discharge plays an important role to preserve the hydrophobicity of the surface.
