Icing Flashover Warning Scheme for Composite Insulators Based on Leakage Currents Feature Parameters
It is urgent to forecast the icing flashover accident of composite insulator as its icing phenomenon has a significant impact on the safe operation of power grid.Although numerous studies have been conducted to predict flashover accident, limited progress has been achieved yet due to the diversity of icing phenomenon and dispersion of icing flashover. In this paper, artificial icing experiments of energized composite insulators with different icing degree and equivalent salt deposit density(ESDD)were performed in the artificial climate chamber.By analyzing the measured leakage current(LC)and flashover voltage, the influence of ESDD and icing degree on LC was investigated. Moreover, three feature parameters of the LC,namely the maximum pulse amplitude(Ih),the total harmonic distortion(THD),and the accumulative charge(Q),which jointly reflect the influence of both ESDD and icing degree, were extracted. All three parameters were converted to corresponding icing flashover voltage via the application of generalized regression neural networks(GRNN)model. Therefore, this paper proposes an elementary flashover warning scheme for iced composite insulators. The relative errors between prediction results and experimental ones are less than 7.78%.
