High-speed Inspection System for Surface Defect on Cartridge Case
In order to solve the problem of high false detection ration and poor real-time performance in the automated and optical inspection of surface defect on cartridge case,a visually high-speed method was proposed.Taking a typical 9mm cartridge case of handgun as the object and considering its surface material,types of defect and detection method,an optical detection system was established on the basis of machine vision.Through studies of the metal texture on the surface,the detection operator called LBPV which was combined local binary pattern with local image variance was proposed.On the basis of the parallel architecture and hardware characteristic of GPU,texture memory and shared memory was introduced to reduce the complexity of this algorithm.Experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively detect and recognize the surface defect on cartridge case.Accuracy reaches up to 95.3%and missing rate is 0%.Real-time performance was improved as a result of GPU acceleration for LBPV operator,the acceleration rate is about 60x.Real-time detection with high accuracy in industrial production were satisfied.
