Running Cost Functions Optimization in Smart Grids
The power management in smart grids can have various objective functions based on client preferences, equipment configured in smart grids, capacity of smart grids, geographical area, government policies, tariff etc.In this paper two algorithms are proposed for the generation of un-interrupted cost effective power supply along with optimization of running cost functions. In first algorithm collection of functions related to running cost e.g.load shedding cost, dissatisfaction cost, frustration cost etc.are considered and optimized using multi objective genetic algorithm while in second algorithm heuristic approach for cost estimation considering additional cost function is evaluated.Weights are assigned to costs functions to reflect user requirements and cumulative sum of weights is set to be one. Both the proposed algorithms give comparable results while the optimized heuristic algorithm takes less computational time.Consistent and cost effective power supply along with optimized running cost functions is generated.A graphic user interface has also been designed in matlab to increase consumer feasibility.Consumers can use interface to assign weights to cost functions according to their requirements and system will generate the desired output respectively.
