Priority Queues in Emergency Rooms

摘要：

　　In this paper,we propose a queueing method for analyzing performance and operations of emergency departments,where the patients are divided into two classes: serious patients and non-serious patients.Using the priority queue,we establish the preemptive priority queueing model for emergency rooms.By using the LU-type RG-decomposition method,we obtain some performance metrics such as the average occupancy of service stations,the leaving rate and the sojourn time of patients,etc.Also we discuss to improve the service quality of emergency departments.
