An Equilibrium Strategy for Mobile Users in a Hybrid Access Network
Mobile users usually access Internet via a hybrid network,in which cellular and Wi-Fi are alternatively available.Regarding the hybrid network as a two-phase type server in which the packets are sent by mobile users as customers,we establish a fully observable continuous time Markovian queue.A mobile user decides to send or not to send a packet according to the number of packets already in the system and the phase type of the server.Through iterations and diagonalization,we get the analytical expression for the expected sojourn time of a newly arriving packet. In addition,we investigate the monotonicity of the expected sojourn time and prove the existence of equilibrium thresholds. Finally,we provide numerical results to analyze the equilibrium strategy of mobile users in a hybrid access network.
