LOVE WAVE IN VISCOELASTIC HALF SPACE WITH SUB-SURFACE GRADIENT DAMAGE
An analytical study is carded out on the propagation of Love waves along the functionally graded Kelvin-Voigt model viscoelastic plate with sub-surface damage. We assume the region of sub-surface damage shows continuous material properties along its depth. The transcendental equation of the power series with the minimum modulus approximation method is solved and the dispersion curves and the attenuation curves are plotted. The results show that the attenuation property is determined by viscosity and the gradient parameters have an influence on the dispersion and attenuation characteristics of Love wave propagation. They provide theoretical guidance in the nondestructive testing of heterogeneous viscoelastic plates and provide a method for safety evaluation of surface acoustic wave devices.
