RAPIDLY MEASURING ELASTIC COEFFICIENTS OF NEW PIEZOELECTRIC MATERIALS USING RESONANT ULTRASOUND SPECTROSCOPY

The growing demand for new material characterization has become the driving force behind the development of resonant ultrasound spectroscopy(RUS).Due to the irregular shape or the layered structure of new materials, the use of finite element method(FEM) instead of Rayleigh-Ritz model to calculate the intrinsic vibration mode has gradually become a trend. In the usual FEM, the resonance spectrum is usually calculated by the frequency domain response method, which includes the intrinsic frequency and amplitude of resonance pulses. However, the calculation takes too much of time, and the process of measuring elastic material constants is rather long.In order to further shorten the measurement time, only the eigenfrequency is calculated using FEM in this paper, and then take measured frequencies and computed frequencies into comparison.A probability matching method is proposed. In the experimental section, taking the new piezoelectric material CNA0.5G0.5S (CNAGS) as an example, which verifies the modal probability matching method proposed in this paper.
