SIMULATION OF WAVE PROPAGATION IN CRACKED ELASTIC MEDIUM USING FDM-FEM

Applying the finite difference method and finite element method (FDM-FEM), a methodology for handling propagating of the elastic wave is proposed. The coupling of two methods is based on the construction of a transitional zone which can pass data, assign values and eliminate the boundary effect. The practical benefits of FDM-FEM are illustrated in the simulation of wave propagating in the crack structure.Different computational domains use different methods.Hence, the simulation of wave propagation is more effective and simplifies code development and subroutines. Then, the characteristics of wave propagation are reflected through the text.
