EXCITATION AND PROPAGATION OF FLEXURAL PLATE WAVE

  Flexural plate wave (FPW) can be used to detect the crack on the plate, so investigating the excitation and propagation characteristics of FPW becomes particularly important and urgent.Effective methods to generate FPW are researched by transducers arrangement.The experimental dispersion curves of FPW were measured by incremental distance measurements using laser vibrometer, and is compared with the theoretical curves.The experiment shows that the FPW can be excited more effectively by using two transducers with the distance of one wavelength.The experimental dispersion curves of the phase and group velocity of FPW are in agreement with the theoretical curves.
