1-D ELECTROMECHANICAL IMPEDANCE MODEL CONSIDERING BONDING LAYER EFFECT ON A DUAL-PZT TRANSDUCER

In the conventional electromechanical impedance method, both the input voltage and the output current are originated from the same part of a PZT patch by using a commercial impedance analyzer, the PZT strain is almost caused by the input voltage rather than the structural responses especially when the host structure is massive. To improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a new dual-PZT transducer has been designed to actuate the host structure and sense the structural responses. In this paper, an improved one-dimensional (1D) electromechanical impedance model considering the influence of the bonding layer on the dual piezoelectric transducer is derived in the Cartesian coordinate system and also validated by a numerical example.
