THE INFLUENCE OF MAXWELL STRESS ON THE PERIODICAL CRACKS IN PIEZOELECTRIC MATERIAL
The effects of Maxwell stress on semi-permeable periodical cracks in piezoelectric material under combined mechanical and electric loadings at infinity is studied.Based on the extended Stroh formalism, the closed-form expression of electric displacement in cracks, the stress and electrostatic fields and field intensity factors are obtained in a concise way.Numerical results are given to discuss the effects of Maxwell stress on the stress and electric displacement intensity factors with increasing remote loadings.Additionally, we find that when relatively big period (over four times the crack length) is adopted, one can obtain similar solutions from the case of a single crack.
