RAYLEIGH WAVES IN FUNCTIONALLY GRADED MATERIAL HALF-SPACE BY ORTHOGONAL POLYNOMIAL METHOD

  This work presents a theoretical study of the propagation characteristics of Rayleigh waves in functionally graded material (FGM) half-space.Based on the three-dimensional linear elasticity theory, Rayleigh waves in FGM half-space are investigated by using the Laguerre orthogonal polynomial method.In the present paper, the dispersion curvcs, displacement and stress distributions of FGM half-space are illustrated.Results are compared with reference published earlier to check up the accuracy of the Laguerre polynomial method.The effects of gradient variation of material constants on phase velocity dispersion curves,displacement and stress distributions curves are analysed in detail.
