A Study on the Effect of Multidimensional Exercise Course on Elderly Patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment

1 Introduction 1.1 Background Globally, the prevalence of dementia has been growing rapidly in recent years. The global dementia report from Alzheimers Disease International (ADI), which was published in August 2015, estimated that there were 9.9 million new cases of dementia in 2015, meaning that one new case of dementia occurs every 3 seconds. There were 46.8 million people with dementia worldwide as of 2015, and this number is expected to increase to 131.5 million by 2050.The estimated costs of dementia care amounted to US$818 billion in 2015 and will exceed US$1 trillion in 2018.According to the Taiwan Alzheimers Disease Associations data regarding Taiwans population growth (which were based on a report regarding population estimates for Taiwan (for 2016-2051), as well as estimates of five-year incidences of dementia, more than 460,000 persons in Taiwan are expected to have dementia in 2031, i.e., two in every hundred people will suffer from dementia.By 2041, 660,000 persons, i.e., three in every hundred, will suffer from dementia;by 2051, 810,000 persons, i.e., four in every hundred, will suffer from dementia;and by 2061, 850,000 persons, i.e., five in every hundred, will suffer from dementia.
