Screening and Identification of Chitinase Producing Strain and Inhibition Action to Dominant Moulds in Corn Stalk

Introduction Corn stalk is an important source of roughage for ruminants0.Improper disposal causes serious air pollution and waste of resource.Corn stalk is usually baled mechanically for storing, but, it is easy to be moldy. However, the chemical preservative cannot be widely used in anti-mildew for cheap stalk source because there is no biological activity and high cost. Therefore, it is imperative to solve the problem through the development of bacterium preparation instead of the traditional chemical fungicide.Chitin, the second largest renewable resource in nature, is only inferior to cellulose. It is the main component of the fungal cell wall.Chitinase can break β-1, 4 glycosidic bond of chitin, producing N-acetyl glucosamine, which inhibit fungus growth due to fungal cell wall rupture, leakage of protoplast2.According to the characteristics of chitinase, the inhibition action of chitinase producing strain to dominant moulds in corn stalk was studied.
