The Study of ability of lignin digestion and degradation of hybrid dairy buffalo by different straw roughages
Introduction Lignin has been considered a component that cannot be degraded by animal gut and rumen microorganisms ever now, but it may be not true thanks to the different ability level on digesting crude fiber between ruminants.Buffalo is a ruminant with excellent ability in digest coarse roughage, when fed straw-based diets, the rumen VFA concentration and rumen ammonia of buffaloes was higher than that of cattle (Abdullah, 1989).The rate of degradation of cellulose was also faster in buffalo rumen than in cattle,and the worse the feed quality is, the more different utilization rate shows in buffalo (Ichhoponani, 1969).This study is aimed at evaluating the ability on lignin digestion and degradation of hybrid dairy buffalo.
