The changes of serum mineral element content of dairy cows at different lactation stages
Introduction From the late pregnancy to the peak of lactation, due to oxidative stress, changes in feeding environment, and diets and other factors, dairy cows are prone to metabolic disorders, thereby affecting the bodys health, causing declined milk production and quality (Valko et al., 2006).The concentration of serum mineral elements can react to the health and physiological metabolic status of dairy cows to a certain extent (Aitken et al., 2009).The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different lactation stages and milk yield on the serum mineral element concentrations, and to provide a reference for scientific evaluation of nutritional status, population health and diet formula of dairy cows.
