The Pre-Protective Effect of Vitamin A on LPS-induced Oxidative Stress of Bovine Mammary Epithelial Cells
Introduction The organism of a high-yielding dairy cow is often in the state of disturbed homeostasis caused principally by the accumulation of considerable reactive oxygen species (ROS) or reactive nitrogen species (RNS, e.g.nitric oxide, NO) (Castillo et al., 2006).Jin et al.(2016) suggest that supplementation of RA can improve the antioxidant and immune parameters of bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs).However, the impact of NO generation has not been reported. The oxidative stress model of induced by LPS have been established successfully in our previous study, which can produce a mass of NO (Shi et al.,2016).Therefore,the aim of this study was to investigate the pre-protective effect of vitamin A on LPS-induced cellular injury and to elucidate the mechanism of antioxidant capacity of RA to protect BMECs from damage.
