Histamine activates inflammatory response and depresses casein synthesis in lactating dairy cows during subacute ruminal acidosis

Introduction To maintain a high milk yield, dairy cows were fed a high concentrate diet(HC), causing the dairy cows to suffer subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA).We found that the histamine content was significantly increased, and the milk protein of the lactating cows was depressed due to the long-term feeding of the HC diet, which paralleled the changes at the gene and protein levels, thus providing an innovative route to the understanding of the relationship between the inflammatory response and casein synthesis.
