Analysis of Melatonin Concentration in Milk Products
Introduction:Melatonin is an indolamine neuroendocrine hormone secreted by pineal gland and has a variety of physiological functions, such as improving the human sleeping quality, strengthening the immunity,anti-aging and antineoplastic1.Therefore, health-care food containing melatonin is much admired in the market.Milk naturally contains a certain amount of melatonin.In countries like Finland, Japan, England and Ireland, milk with rich melatonin has been produced as a kind of high value-added products and the price is much higher than ordinary milk.These countries have their own patents to produce milk with rich melatonin.But this technology is still immature and there is no commensurable commodity in our country.This study was aimed to investigate the effects of various brands, different habitats and diverse processing on melatonin concentrations in milk products.In order to study the potential value of milk with rich melatonin and provide reference for manufacture.
