Study on Electrical Life of Sealed Relay with Silver Oxide Contact

　　Sealed relays are usually required for the applications in harsh environment, while it was observed that electrical life of relays with silver oxide contacts reduced severely under the sealed construction and failed to meet the application requirement.Through analyzing the temperature rise, electric arc energy and substances on/around contact (after electrical life test), this paper identified that the contact material is the key factor to impact the electrical life performance of sealed relay, verified the electrical life of sealed relay could be improved significantly by changing contact material from silver oxide to non-oxide contact.This study is helpful for the design of sealed relays.
