Failure Analysis of Erosion Happened in MicroSwitch
Micro switch is a contact mechanism for switching action with prescribed stroke and force, and has a micro contact interval and fast moving mechanism.Micro switch is also called sensitive switch because the distance between the contacts of the switch is small.Failure phenomenon of one type of micro switch, with large contact resistance of the normally closed contact, was appeared in the field use process.It caused the system to be unable to operate normally.In this paper, the failed micro switches were analyzed and tested.The contact parts of the normally closed end contact and conductive part were found to be eroded, and black, carbonization phenomenon is serious.The main component of the erosion zone is silver oxide and dust particles.However, the normally opened end and contact parts of the conductive parts are normal, not eroded.The contact resistance of the erosion zone is higher than 40mΩ.This paper analyzes the formation reasons of the erosion zone, and provides the solution of the failure.
