An Experimental Study on Electrical Contact Performances under Different Material Mating
In order to evaluate performances of electrical contacts under different material mating conditions, anti-dynamic welding capabilities, erosion amounts as well as break arc durations were evaluated for switching operations of AgNi, AgCdO, and AgSnO2 contacts with symmetric and asymmetric material matings in a DC resistive load circuit.Contact surfaces were also observed with an SEM after the switching operations. The obtained results suggested that some asymmetric material matings exhibit improving effect, deteriorating effect, as well as intermediate effect for their anti-dynamic welding capabilities, anti-erosion performances, and break arc duration characteristics, as compared to symmetric material matings.
