A Study of Filter Connector Degradation in Extreme Environment

  Filter connector is a kind of specific communication component with strong Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) which contains a filtering network that can filter out the high frequency Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) coupling in the connector.Referring to national military standard (GJB), a C type low pass filter connector was designed using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software.The mechanism of how filtering structure rejects the high frequency signal was analyzed based on the perspectives of Circuit and Field.A series of accelerated tests were designed and conducted in this work to investigate the impacts of temperature and corrosion on filtering performance.By using a signal analyzer, the output signal spectrums of filter connectors under different accelerated conditions were experimentally measured.Furthermore, the output signal spectrums were theoretically calculated by polynomial fitting and the system transfer functions under different conditions were obtained and analyzed.Consequently, the relation between failure factors and filtering performance degradation was concluded.
