Electrical Contact Welding in Making Operations

　　Contact welding can occur in both making and breaking operations.In order to research contact welding phenomena in making operations, electrical endurance tests were conducted with a simulation test device.Welding phenomena at three different moments were studied to know which moment is the most critical for the welding phenomena: (i) at the first touch of movable and fixed contacts;(ii) at the contact bounce separation;and, (iii) when the movable and fixed contacts touch each other after the end of bounce.Influences of the number of bounces as well as bounce duration characteristics on the welding phenomena were also investigated.
