Quantum Rods Active Luminance Enhancement Film for High Efficiency and Wide Color Gamut LCD Displays

Semiconductor quantum rods (QRs) as attractive nanomaterials have been applied in bioimaging1, luminescent solar concentrators2 and light emitting diodes (LEDs)3.All of these applications utilize the characteristic properties of QRs, e.g.tuneable emission spectra, large absorption cross section4, fast radiative decay rate5, large Stokes shift, and polarized emission along their long axes derived from their anisotropic crystal structures6, 7.Such properties are universally applicable for colloidal core-shell QRs,e.g.heterogeneous CdSe/CdS dot-in-rods, which exhibit highly efficient, narrow emission bandwidth and polarized photoluminescence8-10.These features make CdSe/CdS QRs promising for low power and wide color gamut LCD displays.
