Colloidal Quantum Dots Self Assembly and their Optical Properties

Introduction Modern material science opens up new possibilities for the design and development of materials with desired and controllable properties.Particular attention is paid to nanostructured materials based on ordered semiconductor nanoparticles or colloidal quantum dots (QDs), also known as the superstructures. The formation of materials with complicated and desired morphology can be reached by different methods, including lithography and self-assembly of QDs on macromolecule patterns or solid substrates1, 2.These methods are used to obtain the 2D and 3D superstructured materials-superlattices (SLs) and supercrystals (SCs), respectively. The control of the QD superstructure lattice can be achieved by precise selection of initial QD colloidal solution parameters as QD shape, size and chemical composition, evaporation rate of the solution, the type of solvent and passivating QD surface molecules, temperature etc3-6.
