Preparation and Thermomechanical Properties of High Temperature Phthalonitrile Resin with Nano-Aluminum Oxide
Introduction Phthalonitrile resin (R-CN) have attracted considerable attention due to their significant advantages over polyimides, epoxies,phenolics, and cyanate ester resins for aerospace and marine applications1-3.For instance, phthalonitrile resin exhibits excellent thermal and thermooxidative stability, good mechanical properties, very low moisture absorption, no volatile by-products, superior chemical inertia, and high flame resistance4,5.However, the inherently brittle nature of phthalonitrile resin has been an important issue and largely limits its application.In this study, we present an easy and effective way to functionalize Al2O3 particles and toughen phthalonitrile resin.
