Polymer Nanofiber Based Artificial Electronic Skin
Introduction Flexible pressure sensors are essential components for electronic skin, that can mimic the human natural skin to sense subtle pressure, have a great potential in the fields of intelligent robot, wearable electronics, interactive display, medicine and health care 1-2.Considerable efforts have demonstrated that piezoresistive pressure sensor functioned with interlocking patterned conducting films have high pressure sensitivity in low pressure region (<1 kPa).However, further improvement in the sensing performance is strictly limited due to the intrinsic viscoelastic properties and the interracial mismatching of insulating polymeric elastomers and conductive additives. Here, a nanofibers based electronic skin is developed based on two interlocking free standing patterned nanofirous membranes with high elasticity and high conductivity, exhibiting a high sensitivity in low pressure region.
