Recent Development of Specialty Polymer Optical Fibre (POF) and Grating

Introduction With the development of the materials and fabrication technology in the last half century, the attenuation of POF has been greatly reduced and the bandwidth has been enhanced.POFs have already been ready not only for use in home networking but also for device and storage interconnections 1.Meanwhile, POF has several advantages over silica fibre in sensing applications, in that a number of enabling technologies have made it possible significantly and easily to enhance the performance of POF for sensors 2.
