Study on the Mechanical and Interfacial Properties of Poly p-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA) fibers treated in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Introduction Aramid or poly p-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA) fibers have high tensile strength and tensile modulus, high thermal resistance, and low density, make aramid fiber fabrics ideal reinforcing materials in the advanced composites fields, such as aviation,aerospace, automobile and shipbuilding application~.However, as the high crystallinity, it is hard to make the moleculer chain to move resulting the tensile strength decreased when improving the modulus.
