Rational Design and Synthesis of Porous Conjugated Polymers for Environment and Energy Applications
Porous materials for selective uptake micropollutants or gasses have attracted great interest in recent years. For instance, the efficient capture of CO2 has received worldwide interest, as it is a potential solution for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.Capture of volatile iodine is of special interest, since the long-lived radioactive iodine isotopes (e.g.129I or 131I) need to be removed from exhaust fumes of nuclear power plants regularly.Porous conjugated polymers (PCPs) are a new class of organic porous polymers that inherently combine π-conjugation with permanent nanopores.
