White Long Afterglow Phenomenon from Sr3Al2O5Cl2∶Eu2+, Nd3+

Long afterglow phosphors have attracted more and more interests, due to their widely applications, such as safety indication and emergency lighting, vivo imaging, solar cells, and so on.1-4 At present, few phosphors with white long afterglow were reported.Herein, we reported the white long afterglow phenomenon of Sr3A12OsC12∶ Eu2+, Nd3+.Their structure, luminescent properties and long afterglow properties were investigated.Three different emission bands from Eu2+ with different crystal sites can be found from this phosphor (seeing fig.1), which are due to the 4f65d1→ 4f7 transition of Eu2+ from different crystal sites.Bright white light can be observed from this phosphor with appropriate CIE values (x =0.390, y =0.378).The white afterglow duration of this phosphor is about 20 min.
