1.Introduction 1.1 Population Ageing in Australia With the evolution of family structure and advance in medicine and healthcare technologies, population ageing has already become an increasing social and economic problem in most of the countries around the globe (see Figure 1 below).By definition, population ageing is a phenomenon that occurs when the median age of a country or region rises due to the rising life expectancy and/or declining fertility rates(Wikipedia).
