Control of Large-scale Chicken Feeding Systems Using a Cyber-Physical System (CPS)

  At present, the large-scale chickens feeding systems mostly use a henhouse independent control and the related feeding parameters are simply upload or not upload.Indoor air temperature, humidity, pressure, water, feeding, collection of eggs and other sensor data are collected by the henhouse local controller for making corresponding local executive instructions.Its disadvantages are that: the henhouse local controller commonly has only a single function,poor system openness, weak communication capacity, and low degree of intelligence.Therefore,it cannot achieve more complex data exchange with its upper-level control system.At the same time, for the fully independent buildings, local building information is isolated and cannot be used for decision making and optimization of the whole large-scale chicken feeding operations.To solve the above problems, this paper is about adoption of a Distributed Control System (DCS) based on the principle of the Cyber-physical Systems (CPS).The original scattered henhouse independent controllers will be integrated.By using industrial Ethernet (Ethercat) and the remote site IO control technologies, data collected by various form of sensors distributed in each of the henhouse are directly transmitted to a centralized controller (main) for the whole farm,and then to a cross farm central controller (host).The optimal climate conditions for growth for of a specific chicken feeding model can be searched through processes of real-time data storage,analysis, and optimization.At the same time, the systems can provide an ERP management system interface and support implementation of farm information management system for the industrial chain.
