Preparation and Properties of PVA/PEG Phase Change Materials by Spiral Vane Electrospinning

  In this research, we prepared different proportions of PVA/PEG solid-solid phase change materials by a new electrospinning method called spiral vane electrospinning, which was very efficient.Different material proportions were PVA∶PEG/5∶5, PVA∶PEG/5∶3, PVA∶PEG/5∶1.We dissolved PVA and PEG in distilled water in a water bath at the temperature of 80℃.Then we put solution in a high voltage field and fabricated three kinds of nano fiber membranes using the new and efficient spiral vane electrospinning.We studied surface morphology of the phase change materials by scanning electron microscope(SEM), construction structure of the materials by FT-IR,thermal properties by thermal analyser.The melting point of PEG we used was 14.4℃, PVA was 230℃.Results showed that the melting point of the mixture was lower than PEG and PVA.With the increasing content of PVA, melting point of mixture increased, but it was still lower than 14.4℃.When PVA∶PEG was 5∶1, there was no obvious melting point according the curve.It can be seen that membranes fabricated by spiral vane electrospinning have moderate phase change temperatures and can meet the requirement of phase change at low temperature during industrial process.Spiral vane electrospinning can be an efficient way to fabricate PVA/PEG solid-solid phase change heat storage materials which has very promising future.
