Performance comparisons between TAED-activated and traditional H2O2 scouring/bleaching systems for cotton

One-step scouring and bleaching for greige cotton was carried out with TAED-activated and traditional H2O2 systems respectively.By measuring color features and capillary effect of treated fabrics, as well as comparing pH variations and theoretical energy consumption during the two processes, it can be concluded that the activated system imparted the fabric higher whiteness index and better water absorbency to meet the requirement of dyeing.Besides, and activated system also diminished the energy consumption and fiber damage under the weak-acid conditions.FT-IR and SEM analyses indicated that the crystallinity of treated cotton was increased regardless of the system used and the activated treated fiber exhibited a smoother and cleaner surface.
