Novel preparation of spherical cellulose nanocrystal based nanoink for digital printing on silk

  a novel preparation method of nanoink for digital printing on silk is presented by using spherical cellulose nanocrystals (SCNs) as dispersant, in which SCNs were prepared by mixed acid (citric acid and hydrochloric acid) hydrolysis of cellulose fiber.Orthogonal experiment was performed to investigate the effect of different component ratios (reactive dyes, moisturizing agents,antimicrobial agents, dispersants and surfactants) on the conductivity, viscosity and zeta potential values of the resulting nanoink.Moreover, compared to commercial digital printing ink, the optimized nanoink with similar SCN morphology showed slightly low conductivity and viscosity,but it exhibited higher suspension stability, dye uptake and color fixation rate, due to the strong electrostatic adsorption between spherical SCNs and dye or other components.
