A Facile Route for In-situ Synthesize Ag/TiO2@fabric with Excellent Anti-bacterial and UV-shielding Properties
A facile method was developed to endow cotton fabric with remarkable anti-bacterial and UV-shielding properties.Firstly, the flower-like TiO2 micro-nanoparticles were deposited onto cotton fabric surface via wet chemical deposition method. Then the silver nanoparticles with a high deposition density were evenly formed onto TiO2@Cotton surface by silver ammonia solution pre-treat and followed by in-situ reduction of silver nitrate. This work focused on the influence of different hydrothermal reaction durations and the concentration of silver nitrate on anti-bacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli as well as UV-blocking property. The results indicated that a good bacterial reduction of more than 86% observed on the sample of TiO2@Cotton compared with pristine cotton. However, Ag nanoparticles loaded TiO2@Cotton which has a lowest concentration of silver nitrate exhibited high antibacterial activity with the inhibition rate more than 90%.With the increasing of the concentration of silver nitrate, higher than 99% inhibition rate against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria are observed.Further, the as-prepared cotton fabric coated with Ag NPs and TiO2 NPs demonstrated outstanding UV protection ability with a high UPF value of 56.39, a level corresponding to the UPF rating of 50+.The above results shows a facile and robust synthesis technology for fabricating multifunctional textiles in the application of UV-blocking and anti-bacterial against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
