Study on the double-blind trial for underwear suppressing itch
126 volunteer patients suffering pruritic skin diseases were recruited, the sampled experimental data of 29 volunteer patients of them were ignored as interfered data when data preprocessing for the double-blind, randomized and placebo controlled clinic trial lasting 4 months from January 2014 to April 2014.Every volunteer patient was asked to change the trial underwear after shower every day for three weeks, with both the tester and the volunteer patient unknowing if the underwear is active or placebo.According to the VAS(visual analog scale) scores sampled from this double-blind trial, after statistical analysis with preprocess, we obtain the following conclusions,(a) the average decreased values of active and placebo groups are 0.4673 and 0.4711 respectively,seeming that placebo group be a little better than active group and the difference between active and placebo groups is so slight;(b) there is almost no difference between the average VAS scores of active and placebo groups on the beginning and at each time point of the double-blind trial, when the average VAS scores are tested as independent-samples;(c) the standard deviations of active group are less than those of placebo group after ignoring the interfered VAS scores;(d) although there is almost no difference between the average VAS scores of active group and placebo group on the beginning of the trial, there is a significant difference between the average VAS scores of the two groups during the double-blind trial period, when the average VAS scores are tested as 21 paired-samples.
