A novel silk electronic gel for gastric ulcer
The aim of this study was to develop a rapidly and nontoxic way to prepare silk fibroin gel whose excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility are beneficial to gastric peroration and big-size damage.Herein, regenerated silk fibroin electronic gel (e-gel) was prepared by low-voltage electric fields with silk fibroin solution (pH:4).HCl and the process of electrolyzing were employed to modulate e-gel-forming rate and e-gel mechanical property.To evaluate the effects of HCl and electrolysis on e-gel performance, water uptake, compression strength of e-gel were examined and analyzed.Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was applied to observe the morphology and inner structure of e-gel.Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman Spectra and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) were employed to investigate the molecule conformation transition of the e-gel.Compared to the silk fibroin gel, the water uptake of the e-gel (5wt%, pH: 4) increased by 57%, and the maximum compressive modules improved significantly s reached 70MPa;the SEM graph showed that e-gel produced micro or nano wire or ball structure inside the materials;FTIR, Raman Spectra and XRD were all proved that the molecular conformation of e-gels are β-sheets.This e-gel might have a potential application in the treatment of gastric ulcer.
